Birba

What’s better than a beautiful and well curated new wine bar named Birba (beer-bah) which means “little troublemaker”? A beautiful and well curated wine bar named Birba located a few blocks away from my house, that’s what. Really feeling like I’ve won the lottery with this little (literally, maybe fits 30 people) neighborhood gem featuring meticulously selected wines from around the globe and small plates done right. Birba is the new project from Angie Valgiusti who is previously known for her work at Bar Jules and as the Somm at The Slanted Door for 12 years. To put it simply, this lady is LEGIT. In the next few weeks I’m gearing up to start my wine studies again and I’m thrilled to have such a lovely selection from different regions to sample whenever I hit my new watering hole…yes, I’ve already declared this to be MY spot. If you are in the neighborhood it’s worth checking out. Oh!!!…and most importantly a backyard wine garden is in the works, which is basically the equivalent of seeing a unicorn in SF. Hayes Valley neighbors how lucky are we?!?!
