Scallop crudo with fregula, citrus, and smoked trout roe
Last week I celebrated a birthday, and because the hubs knows the way to my heart is food (always food) he surprised me with dinner at a fancy pants Michelin rated restaurant called Acquerello. I used to laugh at plates decorated with tiny bites of food placed to look like art, but the truth is this was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The food was beautiful, interesting and delicious. The service was as good as it gets. And from the moment you step foot in the door you feel taken care of and, well, pretty spoiled actually. My foodie friend had given me the tip to stick to ordering 3 or 4 courses from the Prix Fixe menu max because they bring you so many extra little bites. Man, she wasn’t kidding! I marked all the photos below that came compliments of the chef. In case you are wondering, yes, we basically rolled home. What a night!

Break from eating to check out the stunning dining room
The exact dish escapes me because (again) it was compliments of the chef, but I believe it was a carrot custard with a smoky pate like spread…whatever it was, it was fantastic!
Cuttlefish ‘tagliatelle’ with capers, chili flakes, lobster, and agretti…the taglieatelle was actually the cuttlefish…super spicy and good
Green garlic gnocchi with Prosciutto, truffle perlage, and 65˚quail egg…my idea of a perfect flavor profile, this dish was the best birthday gift ever
Bowing down to the amazingness that was the green gnocchi
‘Porchetta’ of quail with riso nero, balsamic demi-glace,and cherry mostarda
Another break to check out the impressive architecture, unconfirmed but apparently this space used to be a church
Just to be clear, I was already stuffed at this point. But the show must go on!
Scottish salmon with Butternut squash, ancient farro, pancetta, brussel sprouts, and pear…the salmon skin was heaven, extra crispy and salted just right
Wild Alaskan halibut with asparagus, spring onion, confit Yukon Gold potato, and almond
Sweet birthday treats for me and my cute date so he didn’t feel left out…they did this, not even kidding! (compliments of the chef)
Before you leave – even when you don’t order dessert – a dessert cart comes to your table and you can pick from a selection of about 10 different bite sized treats (compliments of the chef)
HANDS DOWN the absolute best freaking biscotti I have ever had. A little parting gift. (compliments of the chef)
Full and happy tummies!
