Last weekend I had the opportunity to explore New Orleans, a place I have dreamt of visiting for as long as I can remember. Not only was it everything it had been built up to be but I got to take it all in with some of my favorite girls. Can’t wait to go back one day with my main squeeze and dive a little deeper into some of the most incredible culture and history our country has to offer. Until next time Big Easy!
Below are some moments from our adventure (a Bachelorette party) if you are interested. Thanks #JOLA girls for sharing a few of your pictures!
Walking out to the boat for our swamp tour
Such a different environment than I grew up with, really beautiful and kept reminding me of The Notebook scene in the boat with all the moss hanging down
Wild piglets with their mama swimming for a free handout
Houseboats
Just a little drive-thru daiquiri stop in the middle of nowhere, can you say hangover in a cup?
WHOA
Bringing the groom with us everywhere we went, she didn’t even have to miss him!
Checking out this local spot with the most amazing looking baked hams – thumbs up to the chefs in the kitchen
The longest running street car in the country + our shenanigans (I apologize to the other passengers)
I wish there were bars like this in San Francisco
A picture to make Bourbon Street look far more beautiful than it actually is…kinda gross but checked it off the list
When the heavens open up in New Orleans there is no escaping it, a totally different rain experience for all us Washington natives
During a hop on bus tour of the city we came upon a random street parade with beads and everything!
My favorite float we saw
Shout out to my alma mater the Decatur Gators!
Such beauty and history in this town…definitely need to return to spend more time learning about it
The famous DuMonde
A messy situation is unavoidable
I swear the ceiling fans were less about the heat and humidity and more about keeping the cloud of powdered sugar down
Tour of Mardi Gras world, so touristy but pretty impressive to see the scale of the production
Pedicab ride through the street of the French Quarter and about 30 seconds before a torrential down pour left me sopping wet
A really amazing spot, highly recommend Herbsaint for a cool vibe and amazing bite
One of the best things I had while in NOLA, Housemade Spaghetti with Guanciale and Fried-Poached Farm Egg
Buy this wine! Just trust me…a rose dry as a bone and so perfect for a meal with girlfriends
The jazz, ohhhh the jazz…so good
My favorite moment of them all was dancing to this incredible group, SO SO SO fun!
It’s too bad we don’t have any fun
Happened upon this nighttime open air art market
Pretty dreamy, I bought a really cool print from an artist who captures moments from the street
Lots of cool little coffee shops and restaurants everywhere you turn, next visit I will spend more time exploring
Sunday morning brunch crowd with a touch of classic NOLA architecture in the back
Hands down the best shrimp and grits I have ever had
