Is there anything more festive than eggnog? When I see it start to pop up at coffee shops and in my grocery store it always makes the holiday season feel more official. While I’ve always splurged with a little top off of my latte I’ve never had it spiked….I know!, I can’t believe it either. So with my girlfriends coming over for dinner and THIS Kahlua recipe waiting to be used I figured it was time to give it a go. Ummm, it’s BOMB. Like, reaaallly bomb. A super decadent and spicy splurge, but absolutely 100% worth it. Plus it couldn’t be easier to make, takes less than 5 minutes. Cheers to the nog!
Spiked Eggnog, recipe courtesy of The Family Feast (but a little less fancy, without the sugared rim)
1 quart eggnog
1/4 cup spiced rum
1/4 cup Kahlua (aka coffee liqueur)
2 tablespoons bourbon
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Equal parts ground cinnamon, ground cloves and ground nutmeg, about 1/4 teaspoon each
Blend eggnog, rum, Kahlua, bourbon and vanilla in a few short burst in your blender to mix. In a small dish combine the three spices and then add 1/4 teaspoon of spice mix to the eggnog mixture. Hold the rest to sprinkle on the finished filled glasses. Pulse blender again a few times to incorporate.
